Pre-Competitive Swim
2025-2026 Fall & Winter Pre-Competitive Clinics
The Pre-Competitive Clinic is ideal for students who are working in advanced swimming lesson groups and are interested in joining a competitive swim team. The 2025-2026 fall and winter Pre-Competitive clinics offer practices twice a week during six-week sessions. Pre-Competitive practices focus on improving all 4 competitive strokes, underwater streamline push-offs, starts, and turns. Although endurance will not be the primary focus, swimmers will build their stamina during each practice. Swimmers will need a swim suit, goggles, and towel.
Along with being an introductory program from students coming from swimming lessons, Pre-Competitive Clinics are also ideal for students who want to continue swimming between their school seasons but is not able to commit to a year-round competitive swim team.
Entry Requirements: The minimum age is 6. Students must also be able to swim 25 yards freestyle, 25 yards backstroke, and have an idea of how to swim breaststroke and butterfly; or advanced to Station 7 during Aquatic Experiences or during the Swim America Swim Lessons Program taught at the Natatorium.
Evaluations: Students new to the program must attend an evaluation prior to registering. Students must be comfortable in deep water before attending an evaluation. Students will be asked to swim 25 yards freestyle along with a few other skills. Please contact Shelley Twigg for more information regarding the evaluation process.
