Practice Groups & Registration

Swim Team Practice Groups
Registration OPens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 10 for Bronze
Registration opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 17 for all other practice groups
Goals of the Bronze Practice Group
- Participate in swim meets
- Compete at IASI Regionals
- Qualify and compete at IASI Championships in the 10 & Under or 11-12 age group
- Advance to the Waukee Waves’ Silver practice group
Entry Requirements
- Ages 7 & Older
- Comfortable in deep water
- Able to practice for 45 minutes
- Students must have advanced past Station 6 of SwimAmerica lessons curriculum or be able to swim 25 yards Freestyle, 25 yards Backstroke, and know how to tread water
Registration
- Students who participated in Advanced Lessons, Pre-Competitive Swim Clinics, or progressed to Station 7 of the SwimAmerica curriculum through Elementary Aquatic Experiences or Beginner Swim Lessons have been added to a membership group, making them eligible to enroll in the Bronze practice group.
- Opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 10 for all students who are in eligible membership group
Goals of the Silver Practice Group
- Qualify and compete at IASI Championships
- Qualify and compete at Midwest All Stars and the Central Zone Age Group meets
- Advancing to the Waukee Waves’ Gold practice groups
Entry Requirements
- Ages 8 & Older
- Swimmers must swim all four competitive strokes and be invited by the coaches
- Advancement to this group is at the discretion of the head coach
Registration
- Students must be assessed by one of the Waves coaches to be eligible to register for this practice group
- Opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 17 for all students who are in eligible membership group
Goals of the Gold 1 Practice Group
- Qualify and compete at IASI Championships
- Qualify and compete at Midwest All Stars and the Central Zone Age Group meets
- Advance to the Waukee Waves’ Gold 2 Practice Group
Entry Requirements
- Ages 11 & Older
- Swimmers must have achieved multiple 10 & Under Q times
- Advancement to this group is at the discretion of the head coach
Registration
- Students must be assigned to these group by one of the Waves coaches
- Opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 17 for all students who are in eligible membership group
Goals of the Gold 2 Practice Group
- Qualify and compete at IASI Championships
- Qualify and compete at Midwest All Stars and the Central Zone Age Group meets
- Advance to the Waukee Waves’ Senior practice group
- Swim at the varsity level with their High School teams
Entry Requirements
- Ages 12 & Older
- Swimmers must have achieved multiple 11-12 Q Times
- Advancement to this group is at the discretion of the head coach
Registration
- Students must be assigned to these group by one of the Waves coaches
- Opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 17 for all students who are in eligible membership group
Goals of the Senior Practice Group
- Qualify and compete at Speedo Sectional meets
- Qualify and compete at USA Swimming Junior Nationals
- Qualify for Olympic Trials
- Qualify and score at the Iowa High School State Meet
- Swim in college
Entry Requirements
- High school students who have achieved 13-14 Q times
- Students who are 13-14 who have achieved Sectional qualifying times
- Advancement to this group is at the discretion of the head coach

- Students must be assigned to these group by one of the Waves coaches
- Opens at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 17 for all students who are in eligible membership group
